Have you ever experienced leaving home and working in a
different place, then you come home for a vacation? That’s what my sister and I felt during our
stay in Amarela.
There were no bars no overnight parties, just plain
communing with one self and with nature. But then again, we visited in October
where there were very few visitors. And so it felt like we own the place.
But beyond the dreamy landscape and excellent customer
service, there is more to Amarela than meets the eye. The owner Atty. Doy Nunag made sure that the
Bohol culture and heritage can be represented by the resort. Furnishings are
made of intricate carved wood done by local artisans. And because Atty Nunag is
a staunch advocate of environment protection and eco-tourism, Amarela makes use of solar panels, recycle
wastes, and even has its own water treatment facility.
Here is one I can share – I find the soap and shampoo
container unique and cute because they are made of ceramic. I thought that maybe they are just meant as a
fashion statement. But I've read somewhere that the reason behind why they use ceramic containers is because they don’t want plastic
wrappers for their soap and shampoo, and their containers can be recycled. Very admirable...
We have now come to the end of our stay. We have to go back home to Cebu. And even though we are sad to leave but we have wonderful memories to bring with us back home.
And to cap that wonderful stay, Amarela provided us with a free shuttle ride to the port. Thank you, Amarela! We hope to come back soon...
