The Trip Back to Cebu

We chose to take the Super Cat Fast Ferry in going back to Cebu. They had some kind of promo, and it is cheaper then Ocean Jet. I like it better also because it was a bit larger than Ocean Jet. I don't know if it was just my imagination, but I was more comfortable with this ride compared to when I was going to Bohol via Ocean Jet. But our seat mates said, yes, Super Cat is good when the sea is calm but it can not withstand choppy waters or big waves. Thank God, it was a beautiful sunny day when we left Bohol, so the sea was calm and peaceful. We arrived in Cebu safely...

Amarela Resort - Adieu...

Have you ever experienced leaving home and working in a different place, then you come home for a vacation?  That’s what my sister and I felt during our stay in Amarela.

There were no bars no overnight parties, just plain communing with one self and with nature. But then again, we visited in October where there were very few visitors. And so it felt like we own the place.

But beyond the dreamy landscape and excellent customer service, there is more to Amarela than meets the eye.  The owner Atty. Doy Nunag made sure that the Bohol culture and heritage can be represented by the resort. Furnishings are made of intricate carved wood done by local artisans. And because Atty Nunag is a staunch advocate of environment protection and eco-tourism,  Amarela makes use of solar panels, recycle wastes, and even has its own water treatment facility.

Here is one I can share – I find the soap and shampoo container unique and cute because they are made of ceramic.  I thought that maybe they are just meant as a fashion statement. But I've read somewhere that the reason behind why they use ceramic containers is because they don’t want plastic wrappers for their soap and shampoo, and their containers can be recycled. Very admirable...

We have now come to the end of our stay. We have to go back home to Cebu. And even though we are sad to leave but we have wonderful memories to bring with us back home.

And to cap that wonderful stay, Amarela provided us with a free shuttle ride to the port. Thank you, Amarela! We hope to come back soon...

Amarela Resort (Part 7 Day 2)

The Pool of Amarela

View of the pool from the topmost balcony of Amarela

Beautiful foot path leading to the pool

Lounge chairs beside the pool

The pool is actually small in size and not too deep. Very kid friendly...But the steps can be a little challenge to people who might have difficulty walking. However they are still manageable.

There was already one guy swimming ahead of us, but after we had the preliminary shower, he was gone. So we had the pool to ourselves...

Beautiful path going back to the rooms

With a heavy heart, we did not stay long. We probably spent just about an hour or more, then we took our breakfast. We had to pack because we were leaving that morning.

The Beaches of Amarela

After the unsuccessful sunrise watching, I went to investigate the beaches of Amarela. From their swimming pool there is a flight of stone steps (here shown in the picture below) going to the beach...

Although they made sure to put wooden railings beside the stone steps, I think the path is still NOT PWD (People With Disabilities) and Elderly friendly. But it sure look aesthetically good...

My first glimpse of the beach

Lounge Chairs

Oh! and a hammock!

Even the sun was lazy that morning...it rose slowly

The beach was all mine...

Soft powdery fine white sands...
I feel it was too early for me to go beach swimming. Would love to have the sun around.  However we will be leaving for Cebu by 11:00 AM, so I decided to forego the beach...

The Elusive Famous Bohol Sunrise...

The next morning, Kit was up and about while it was still dark because she wanted to catch the famous magnificent Bohol sunrise... Our brother was able to take a very beautiful photo when he visited Bohol some years back, and Kit was excited to witness it herself...

My brother's beautiful photo
Unfortunately the sun refused to shine brightly and kept lurking behind dark clouds!  These are what we got!

What happened to Kit? Well, she conked out perhaps from too much waiting... Hahaha!
